You carry two worlds. Let’s make room for yours.

Therapy for first-generation Americans —the translators, the bridges, the ones carrying a whole family’s hopes. In person in South Buckhead, and virtually across Georgia.

You've always lived in between.

Between your family's world and the one you grew up in. Between the language at home and the one out there. Between everything they sacrificed and the life you're supposed to make of it. You learned to translate, to bridge, to hold it all — and somewhere in the middle, your own needs got easy to overlook. This is a place to put them back on the table.

You can honor the sacrifice and still build a life that’s yours.

The guilt, the pressure, the "how could I complain after everything they gave up" — these come from love, and from carrying more than any one person should. Honoring where you come from and choosing your own path are not opposites. You don't have to reject your roots to grow beyond them. That's the whole point of roots.

Four ways we do this work, together.

Name the in-between

Neither fully "here" nor fully "there" is its own experience. We give language to the bicultural story you've been living without a map for.

Loosen the grip of guilt

Love and obligation get tangled early. Together we untangle them — so you can stay close to your family without disappearing into their expectations.

See the whole system

Migration, sacrifice, survival, the roles you were handed — you're still inside that system. We look at all of it, not just how it lands in your head.

Someone who’s lived it

As a first-generation American myself, I'm not learning your experience from a textbook. We do this work from inside a shared understanding.

This might be your work if…

You were the family translator — literally, or emotionally, or both

You feel guilty resting, spending, or choosing yourself after everything they gave up.

You code-switch so much you’re not always sure who you are underneath.

Your family doesn’t fully get your world, and your world doesn’t fully get theirs.

Success arrived with a pressure you’ve never been able to put down.

I'M IN THIS WITH YOU

I'm first-generation too.

Both of my parents are from the West Indies, and I'm a first-generation American — so I know these roots can cross oceans, and that the weight you carry was often packed long before you were born. I'm Rochelle Marecheau, LMFT, founder of Thérapie de Marecheau. My job is to be a steady place where both of your worlds are understood, so you can build a third one that's fully your own.
